What’s in a cup of coffee?

I don’t study statistics or culture, so this little note doesn’t claim any empirical nature.  But, it seems to me that a cup of coffee has lost its appeal to many in society and in my family these days.  My wife and I endure our share of comments about our regular, and admittedly, habitual consumption of the beverage.  To the non-consumers and nay sayers I offer this explanation and defense of what’s in a cup of coffee. A cup of coffee is a warm hearth and a comfortable chair to share with a friend at a moment’s notice.  A cup of coffee is an old porch swing and a break from a day that’s taken its emotional toll.  A cup of coffee is a kitchen table and a bow backed chair where questions can be asked and answered and troubled minds can be untangled and eased.  A cup of coffee is a desk and a solitary office chair at the break of day where quiet reflection gathers thoughts before the inevitable noise of enterprise. I can offer any or all of this 24-7-365 with a single 6 ounce cup of coffee.  I don’t know of another beverage that has that ability.  Can I get you a cup?

Merry Christmas!

“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”  So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophets, saying:  “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son,  and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” –Matthew 1:21-23
